There was a day when a server needed to be set aside specifically for an IVR. Now adays, if you have a low volume IVR using VoiP you can place it on an existing server that has other responsibilities. Think Windows small business server + IVR.

Hi Srikrishna,
Thank you for pointing out more points.

I agree with the "iron clad contract" part the most and totally agree to it. Most probably, this is one of the major reason, why Hosted IVR has not really picked up in India.

Regards

yes I agree with you that on premise IVR is there to stay for a long time now.

In additional to the points mentioned by you, on premise IVR gives the organisations a sense of ownership on the IVR systems/service. In case of hosted models the buyers do not own anything - the technology, equipment, the experience gained, the interaction data etc

In case of hosted models, it becomes extremely important to have an iron clad contract to handle aspects related to like security, confidentiality, non competing clauses, minimum assured business clauses, SLA....

Organizations with certain IT expertise or with plans of building in-house IT expertise or with long term business plans based on IVR service delivery/IVR based business operations will definitely opt for on premise IVR.

regards,
B. Srikrishna Bhat.
