IVR and toll free number has very close relation. Almost all toll free numbers in the world are first answered by an IVR before a caller can speak to human agent. Many people are almost impatient to speak to human agent after dialing a toll free number, while Ithe VR seems to get in between the caller and human agent with various prompts, questions, confirmation, hold music etc. This is one of the reasons why people hate IVR.
This post acted as an IVR so far ? It did not answer the question “How to Get Toll Free Number in India” yet! Actually, I keep getting mails asking the question, “how to get toll free number in India ?”, so I thought I would post about it.
Essentially, the toll free number is given by telecom company. In India, these companies majorly provide Toll Free numbers :-
1. BSNL : Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
Most probably, this is the biggest toll free number provider in India having the largest network. Since it is a government undertaking, one should be ready to deal with government bureaucracy. BSNL can provide toll free number in almost all major cities, big towns in India and that is their main advantage.

Recently, I had a chance to work on Sangoma Board and FreeSWITCH ( an open source Telephony platform) which can also work as Interactive Voice Response system. The main challenge
was to install the FreeSWITCH on Windows and get Sangoma board ( Model A101) work. Since I was new to Sangoma board low cost boards, I faced many problems due to lack of information availability on net for beginner.
Though Sangoma support was more or less satisfactory, but no where near the excellent support provided by Dialogic. So, few small things I learned about Sangom board which may be beneficial for people who have worked only with Dialogic board, but not Sangoma boards.
1. Sangoma drivers do not have any telecom protocol ( ISDN ) built into it. It always uses third party software for these protocols.

What is Phone verification ?
Phone verification can be called verification of a phone number entered in a form ( both online form or offline paper form ) either it is a valid phone number or not. Here, validity of the phone number does not mean only about the numbers entered numeric, length of digits entered sufficient ( which can be verified by smart software though), but the phone number works! It mean, the number has to ring when dialed from another phone number. Also it has to match the owner of the phone number with the name entered in the form!
So, most of the time the only way to verify the number is to manually dial and speak to the person.
Why Phone verification is required ?
Phone verification is required for many services for obvious reasons to authenticate credential of a person. Credit card, Banking, ID proof etc. are few examples where phone verification is a must.
A verified phone may also reduce many unproductive calls by any tele-caller.

Many a times, I get request to help installing SPCI4/SPCI2 board installing in Windows 2003 Server. While installing mine, I prefer to ask Dialogic vendor to help remotely install and configure ( normally they provide free Remote Installation and Configuration, and they always do good job) the board, but many a times I also try configure myself. So, I thought I would try to list a step by step instruction for installing and configuring Dialogic Septel boards.
While for beginners, all these terms like SPC, DPC, SS7, MTP License, ISUP License etc. may sound too technical and scaring, but these are just parameters which are needed to be filled up in two simple configuration files.

Insurance companies have to perform many routine tasks which can be performed by an IVR ( Interactive Voice Response) System for benefit of both Insurance company as well as its clients. With IVR client will be able to perform many tasks like lodging a new claim, get claim status as well as other information using their landline or mobile phone from anywhere.

An inbound IVR can be used to lodge any new claim with verification like registered phone number or policy ID. On successful registration of claim, caller would be given an Unique claim ID. During registration of new claim, it can gather important information like claim type ( Accidental, natural death, Vehicle insurance). This will help sorting new claims category-wise and build useful MIS.

IVR ( Interactive Voice Response System) can be used to where fans would be given a number to call and listen to news, greetings by the celebrity. The IVR can have options to record fan messages in voice too. This could be a simple inbound IVR, even on hosted IVR platform with original voice greetings from the celebrity.
