Developers can securely develop applications using inCloud9 resources that are functionally partitioned and assigned to them. They are initially provided login credentials that enable them to access the site via a VPN connection. Development tools can then be accessed to create prototype applications that can be functionally tested with dedicated server resources running both Dialogic and third party products. inCloud9 also serves as a community for developers, and allows them to communicate and interact with others that have similar interests.

The first products available for use in the inCloud9 network include Dialogic® PowerMedia™ products — Dialogic® PowerMedia™ IP Media Server (IPMS), a powerful and flexible server-based software product that supports open protocols and APIs to unleash media processing capabilities for mobile value-added services; and Dialogic® PowerMedia™ Web Media Server (WMS), software that enables the rapid development and deployment of voice and video-enabled Web 2.0 social networking and other applications using an HTTP RESTful-based interface popular with web developers.

Additional third party products are also accessible, including the Sailfin J2EE application server, OpenMethods OpenVXML service creation environment, Vicorp xMP service creation environment, NetBeans IDE and the Tomcat server for XML script and prompt storage. Dialogic is planning to make additional Dialogic products and third party products available through inCloud9 later in 2010.

In addition to providing product access and support, inCloud9 will feature video training demos and sample code for applications such as:

    * IVVR
* Video Mail
* RTSP
* Text Overlay
* MSCML-based IVR and Advanced Conferencing
* Dynamic VXML
* “Click to Call” Applications
* Video Ring Back Tone
* OpenVXML

“We designed the inCloud9 network to be a stimulating, resource-rich environment for developers in which they have access to the tools and support for expressing their creativity and developing new applications,” said Jim Machi, senior vice president of marketing at Dialogic. “We are excited to see what innovations will emerge from the inCloud9 initiative.”

Dialogic is currently accepting mobile video applications for its second annual Dialogic Innovator Challenge. The company is offering access to inCloud9 for selected developers to create applications for submission to the Innovator Challenge. The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of US$10,000, with additional cash prizes awarded to two runners up.

Continuing with innovator competition in second year in row, Dialogic today announced Annual Dialogic Innovator Competition, Offering Cash Prizes for Next-Generation Mobile Video Applications. Winner will get $10,000 while first and second runners up will win $5000 and $2500 respectively.

Parsippany, New Jersey, April 21, 2010 – The explosive growth of mobile video is changing the way the world communicates. It is predicted that overall consumer IP traffic will move from mostly voice to primarily video traffic in the next 3-5 years, and that mobile application revenues will be in the billions. In fact, recent industry research by Cisco forecasts that 90% of overall consumer IP traffic will be video-related by 2013.

As a leading worldwide provider of enabling technologies for communications applications, Dialogic Corporation (“Dialogic”), is helping to power the future of video. Today, Dialogic is calling upon developers who share its video vision to do their part to create the next generation of mobile video applications as part of the Second Annual Dialogic Innovator Challenge.

Watch a video about the Innovator Challenge!

The Innovator Challenge will run from April 19, 2010 through September 10, 2010, and is open to application developers worldwide who are ready to trial, go to market with, or have recently deployed an innovative, new mobile video or social networking application that is built on one or more Dialogic® components. All submissions must incorporate video and be relevant to sports in some way in order to qualify. The prize winners will be chosen by a panel of judges from Northern and Latin America, Europe and Asia, with consideration given to the results of online community voting on the Dialogic Innovator Challenge contest portal.

The judging panel includes:

    * Rob Bamforth, Principal Analyst, Communication, Collaboration and Convergence, Quocirca Ltd.
* Konstantin Chervyakov, Head of Java Development, Next Media Group (Shamrock Games)
* Dr. Sven Hischke, Vice President, Innovation and Technology Management, Deutsche Telekom
* Jim Machi, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Dialogic
* Roberta Prescott, Editor, InformationWeek Brasil
* Roderick Snell, President, Video Convergence Forum
* Rich Tehrani, President & Group Editor in Chief, Technology Marketing Corporation

“Following the success of last year’s inaugural Dialogic Innovator Award Competition, we wanted to again give application developers an opportunity to be rewarded for using Dialogic products to build exciting new applications,” said Jim Machi, senior vice president of marketing at Dialogic. “We recognize that video will play an extremely important role in the evolution of the mobile market, so this year we’re focusing the Competition on what developers are doing to create new mobile video applications or energizing current voice applications with mobile video capabilities, plus we’re incorporating a sports theme in this year when worldwide attention is especially focused on several multinational sports events and competitions.”

How to Submit Entries

In order to submit an entry for the Innovator Challenge, application developers must register within the DEN if they have not done so previously, and must join the “Innovator Challenge” group. There, they can fill out an entry form and upload a video of their sports-themed mobile video or social networking application. The three winners will be announced the week of September 28th at the NetEvents Service Provider Summit in Istanbul, Turkey.

To support developers’ efforts in connection with the Innovator Challenge, those interested in participating will be able to download free software, including the Dialogic® IP Media Server, Dialogic® Host Media Processing Software and the DiaStar™ Server, as well as to use the Dialogic® Vision™ Servers and Gateways to help develop their innovative mobile video applications. Dialogic is also offering access to a Developer Network that will allow developers to use and test Dialogic® products and Dialogic partners’ peripheral systems for the development of trial applications. In addition, in-person or online training courses are available to help developers, including participants, gain proficiency in evaluating, developing, and deploying solutions based on Dialogic products. Additional resources and information are available on the Innovator Challenge website, including the full Terms and Conditions for the Challenge.

level CTI board for many high end, feature rich IVR applications like unified messaging system, Fax Server, Caller Ringback Tone, Speech enabled voice applications.

Features of Dialogic D/300 JCT-E1 board

1. Digital Network Interface

    It has both E1(2.048MBPS) and T1(1.544 Mbps) support. It supports digital interface network protocols like ISDN PRI, R2MF. ISDN PRI is widely used protocol for connecting CTI board with PBX systems. With D/300 board, it is quite easy to configure it to work with many ISDN variants as per PBX from one country to another or manufacturer.

2. FAX support

   Dialogic D/300 board supports both FAX and host based speech recognition. In certain cases, FAX and speech recognition may not work together. It also supports CSP ( Continuous Speech Processing) which offers IVR developers a powerful feature to develop many interesting IVR applications and features depending on the call progress. Speech recognition feature provides IVR developers to develop Speech-Enabled menu for any IVR application.

3. Scalability

  Dialogic D/300 supports H.100 connector and it allows it to connect to other Dialogic boards. Inexpensive normal PC can be used to install this board and one PC may install upto 16 boards per machine if PCI slots are available.
With its support for GSM and G.726 bit exact voice coders ( standard for Voice Profile for Internet Messaging (VPIM) , one may develop unified messaging solutions based on D/300 board.

4. Programming

   Dialogic D/300 board is supported by many RAD Tools for IVR development. It also supports widely popular GC ( Global Call Protocol) for making many high end, mission critical IVR applications.

Applications

  D/300 board can be used to develop any kind of IVR applications. It offers many call related information available with digital network interface protocols. Call bridging available in ISDN PRI is one of the feature which is used to make Click To Call application can be developed.

   D/300 board is also ideal choice for starting a voice portal service to start with 30 lines and then increase the lines.

DIalogic has some other models with higher capacity with same features. D/600 and DMV1200 have 60 voice and 120 resources respectively. One may move from D/300 to DMV/1200 without having to make any changes in the application.

Other CTI vendors like Donjin, Synway, Digium too have D/300 equivalent boards. For example, Digium TE122P/TE122B, Synway TEJ Series and Donjin DN300 are Dialogic D/300 equivalent boards with similar features.

Arguably, Dialogic D4/PCI analog card must be the most widely used CTI card in the world! Also, most probably again, all 4 Generation Visual Tools for developing IVR Application supports this Dialogic D4/PCI CTI Card.

This card is easy to install, very feature rich, and has many advanced call processing feature. The most problematic part of any analog card s detecting engage tone, busy tone, ring back tone, apart from detecting Pulse Dialing! Amazingly this card has all those call processing feature which can be utilised effectively to solve these problems.

For those who are interested in know complete details, click here.

Here are few tips about using this card:-
1. Find out if your EPABX/Telecom Service provider has enabled Loop current drop at end of call. If not, ask them to enable so that you do not face Call Disconnect Not detecting problem. ( I feel, this is the most widely encountered problem by all IVRS people.)
2. You must create TSF file using PBXpert. This utility comes with Dialogic System Release, all versions. This tool makes few incoming/outgoing calls with two extension lines ( if EPABX) and train itself to detect the Engage Tone, Busy Tone and disconnect Tone, Ring Cadence etc. This step is very important.
3. To make your life easier, check for various PRM files in dialogic directory.

Finally, if nothing seems working, join www.dialogic.com/den/ and shoot your question in the forum. Or you can contact me.

I had promised before that I would write about DTMF and pulse dialing in future. Finally I have decided to write about them!

This article may be ignored by IVR professionals as they must be quite bored with these two terminologies! But many users who have to listen to announcements like “If you are in pulse mode, then please come to Tone mode by pressing # ( Hash), thank you”, for them it might be useful!

Many telephone Instruments/Telephone Handsets has a button on either bottom-side of it or side of it which says P And T on either side. It means Pulse or Tone. Depending on the position of that button, your telephone instrument will generate either pulses or DTMF tones on pressing a key on the keypad.

DTMF stands for Dual Tone Multiple Frequency. It esentially used to depict the 4X4 Matrix keypad used for Telephone Keypad. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,*,0,#,A,B,C,D. Many telephone instruments don’t have A B C D keys! DTMF constitutes two frequencies which are combined together for denoting a DTMF digit.

This tables shows that:

When you press Key 1, it generates two frequencies, 1209Hz and 697Hz. Now, lets unsrstand the telephone operation

It has two state or situation

Connecting state : Here you lift the phone, hear the dial tone, and press the number you want to dial. And wait for either ring back tone or some busy tone! This state can be called connecting state. In this state, when you press the keys, these keys ( the two frequencies ) are transmitted to the exchange. Exchnage in turns try to connect to the number you have dialed.

[ad#large-ad]

Connected State : In this state, call is connected and you are talking to your friends ( girfriends), relatives, business contacts or IVRS! Now if you press a key, it will still produce the same two frequencies and it will be heard by you as well as the person at other end which can be IVRS too! That is how DTMF is used for selectiing various options in IVRS! The tone duration has minimum period to detect and I think its 40ms ON and 80ms OFF. it means it has to generate the tones for minimum period of 40ms for the other end to detect and minimum 80ms of gap for the next DTMF tone!

TIP : If you a smart person, you can use the above information this way!

Suppose you have a landline phone in your house. And your father has put a lock on the keypads so that you can not make any outgoing calls! But you can still make outgoing calls! All you have to do is, using your mobile phone, press the keys of the number you want to call, and then record those tones! ( How do you do it, I wont tell!) Just record those tones, lift the handset, play the recorded tones in front of the mouthpiece of handset and wow, you made a call to that number! I hope I wont be sued for this piece of information!

If the Telephone handset is in Pulse Mode, then when you press a key, it will connect / disconnect corresponding to the number of the key! Suppose, you press a 1, it will disconnect once and then connect again! You can think this as ON HOOK and OFF HOOK! This cycle is for certain duration and the duration is standardized. Its called Break and Connect too.

In connected state too, you can press keys in pulse dialing! It will produce some sound which corresponds to some frequency only! And if IVR can detect that frequency, IVR can detect pulse dialing too in connection state and IVR will stop asking you to come to Tone mode! But most IVR Systems dont support this!

Last information : Mobile Phones dont have Pulse dialing option.
